Amer Shanati – As if death were my amusement
Amer was born in Syria with the Palestinian nationality. He started playing Ud about ten years ago when he was 17 years old. He started his own music school in Homs, but had to leave Syria because of the war. Amer is now in Holland for almost one year.
Shaimaa was born in the United Arab Emirates with the Palestinian nationality. She started singing as a young girl and joined the band Amer formed in Homs. A couple of months after Amer she fled to Holland as well.
This song is based on a poem by Mahmoud Darwish. Amer composed the music on his Ud during the war. Amer’s main message in his music is to show the human side of the Palestinians. Amer fears that the world sees them only as terrorists.
